Creating a new announcement and pinning it to the top

Note: This article has specific information for courses in which there is an off-campus trip as part of the curriculum.

Step 1:

On the homepage for your course, select the caret next to "Announcements."

Step 2:

Select "New Announcement" from the drop-down menu.

Step 3:

Enter a Headline and Content for your announcement. For off-campus trips you should use the following text:

Please note that there is an off-campus trip included in the curriculum of this course. The university is required to obtain a signed student traveler statement and release from liability on an annual basis before any student is able to participate in an off-campus trip. If you haven’t already, please complete the waiver here in order to participate. Students under the age of 18 also need a parent/guardian to complete this separate waiver here. Students will not be allowed to participate in a domestic field trip without the proper form(s) being completed.

Step 4:

Set the times for publishing and expiration if needed and then select the "Publish" button.

The "Publish" button is highlighted.

Step 5:

To pin the announcement you have made, select the caret next to the announcement title and navigate to "Pin to top."

Note: students are able to dismiss announcements from their own course homepages but are still able to access the announcements from the Announcements area in the Course Menu.
