Brightspace Quizzes now include tools that allow students to:
- Bookmark questions to revisit before submitting
- Strike through answer choices they want to eliminate
These features support student test-taking strategies and are available during quiz attempts. The markings are not submitted, visible to instructors, or retained after the attempt ends. The strike-through tool is available for True/False, Multiple Choice, and Multi-Select questions.
What Students See
The Bookmark tool is located on the right-hand side of the question title. When a question is bookmarked, it is displayed in the left-hand navigation panel for easy access.
The Strikethrough tool is displayed when the user hovers over an answer, allowing them to mark the answer as crossed out.

Instructor Considerations
These tools:
- Do not affect grading
- Are not visible to instructors
- Are not stored with quiz submissions
- Can help students organize their thinking during an assessment
You may wish to leave these tools enabled as a student support feature.
Disable the Tools for a Quiz To turn off Question Annotation Tools (Only For Instructors)
- Open the quiz.
- Select Edit.
- Go to timing and display (right hand side of the screen).
- Select Hide question annotation tools.
- Save and Close.
Recommended Practice: Leave Question Annotation Tools enabled unless there is a specific pedagogical reason to disable them. These tools provide students with additional strategies for navigating assessments without affecting quiz results.
