What is Special Access?

You are able to set separate privileges for individual students to access and submit assignments past due dates. This could be used in a situation where a student has accommodations that allow for additional time to complete assignments or simply to grant a particular student an extension.

From the course homepage, select the "Course Menu" button and choose the activity type.

This will be either an Assignment, Quiz, or Discussion.

On the activity page, select the drop down menu button for the item you want to edit. Then select "Edit."

Navigate to "Availability Dates & Conditions" and open the menu by selecting it. Then select "Manage Special Access."

Choose how you would like this activity to be viewed by selecting the appropriate radio button.

The first option will keep the activity open to all students until the availability dates are reached and then only students will special access will be able to view it.

The second option limits the activity to only those students with special access.

Then "Add Users to Special Access" to select the students and define the properties of the special access.

In the popup window that appears, select the checkbox next to "Has Due Date," "Has Start Date," and "Has End Date" if you wish to add any or all of those dates and times to the special access.

You will be brought back to the "Manage Special Access" popup again. Review your selections and then choose "Save and Close."

Note: You can add more than one set of Special Access dates and times as shown above.
