What is EquatIO?
EquatIO is a math accessibility solution for those who prefer to listen to math in any document or web page or create math content with voice or handwriting.
EquatIO allows users to take a screenshot of the inaccessible equation to convert it to accessible math. Users can paste the equation into a Word document or create LaTeX or MathML of the equation.
EquatIO can be used to dictate equations and formulas aloud. It understands what is said and turns the spoken input into written expressions. EquatIO can also be used to write math freehand on the device and to turn that into digital math.
Note: As of June 30, 2023, you will need to be running Equatio Version 1.8.0 or higher to successfully log in on both Windows and Mac Desktop versions. The following link explains why and shows how to check which version of Equatio you are running:
How to install EquatIO on Windows or MAC
The Desktop install is for Non-SNHU issued computers. If you are using an assigned SNHU computer, please install the Chrome Web Store browser extension as recommended.
Desktop Install:
- Clear Cookies and Cache in all your browser profile(s)
- Go to your browser profile:
- In the top right, click the button with your name or the person icon sign out of all your online Google/Gmail Chrome Browser profiles and make sure "Sync is off."
- Go to the EquatIO website and select the appropriate platform to download.
- After you have downloaded EquatIO, run the downloaded file.
- Select the "Accept and Install" button to accept the user terms and run the installation wizard.
- When prompted, select Sign in with Microsoft and log in with your full Southern New Hampshire University email address and password to activate your EquatIO license.
Please note: If you are signed in to the Google Chrome browser with a personal or work Gmail, the Texthelp extension(s) will automatically authenticate with that email. The "Need admin approval" denied permissions is going to appear. You must sign out of all your online Google/Gmail Chrome Browser profiles and make sure "Sync is off." Then you will have to Sign in with Microsoft and log in with your full Southern New Hampshire University email address and password to activate your EquatIO license.
