Dragon Anywhere is Not Capturing or Saving Text

  • What is Nuance Dragon Anywhere or Naturally Speaking Software: 
    • It is a speech-to-text dictation program that allows users to dictate documents, send emails, search the Internet, and control their computer using their voice. This article explains the current workarounds when this issue occurs. 
  • What is a commonly reported Issue:
    • When text is not saved, it may be because Dragon Software considers the application "unsupported."

First Workaround

  1. Open Dragon Naturally Speaking.
  2. Locate the Dictate Button.
  3. Press the Spacebar on the keyboard once dictation is complete.
  4. Click Save.

Note: This should keep the text in the text field.

Second Workaround

  1. Navigate to Using The Dictation Box.
  2. Use the Keyboard to enter a space in the text field.
  3. Start Dictation and see if it will save.
  4. Use the Keyboard and enter a space before or after dictation to see if it will save.

Example: Press the spacebar before dictation or press the period when dictation is complete.

If the issue is not resolved, please escalate

  • Create and assign a ServiceNow ticket to M. Patty Petersen ([email protected]) for additional help when resolving issues. 
  • These issues may include the following:
    • SNHU platform, site, or application where the Assistive Technology is not working.
    • Account information (name and email).
    • Serial number (license key number).
    • Device type (mobile, tablet, MAC, PC, model number).
    • Type and model of the microphone.
