What is a Speaker Coach?
Speaker Coach is an intelligent tool designed to enhance your public speaking and presentation skills by providing private, real-time feedback during meetings or presentations, along with a comprehensive summary afterward. This AI-powered coach delivers personalized insights to help you communicate more clearly, confidently, and inclusively. The key features of Speaker Coach include:
- Filler Word Detection: Identifies overuse of filler words (e.g., um, uh, like) and encourages smoother, more fluent speech.
- Pace Monitoring: Evaluates the speed of your speech to ensure your delivery is neither too fast nor too slow, improving audience comprehension and engagement.
- Pitch Analysis: Monitors variations in your vocal pitch to help maintain interest and avoid monotony.
- Sensitive Language Alerts: Flags language that may be inappropriate, offensive, or non-inclusive, fostering respectful communication.
- Inclusivity Feedback: Promotes the use of inclusive and bias-free language to create a welcoming environment for diverse audiences.
- Speech Refinement Suggestions: Offers targeted advice on improving articulation, clarity, and verbal delivery for a more polished presentation.
All live insights from Speaker Coach are visible only to you during the session. These insights are not stored or included in any meeting transcripts or recordings, ensuring complete privacy and confidentiality. This feature is currently only supported in the English language. The Teams app language must be set to English.
How to Enable Speaker Coach During a Microsoft Teams Meeting
To activate Speaker Coach and receive real-time feedback during a regular Teams meeting, follow these steps:
- Click on More options ("…") in the meeting controls.
- Select "Turn on Speaker Coach" from the dropdown menu.
- Once enabled, speak naturally during the meeting. Speaker Coach will analyze your speech and provide private, real-time insights visible only to you.

How to Enable Speaker Coach While Presenting a PowerPoint in a Microsoft Teams Meeting
To use Speaker Coach during a PowerPoint presentation in Teams, follow these steps:
- Share your PowerPoint deck in the meeting. For detailed instructions, refer to Share PowerPoint slides in a Teams meeting.
- Once your PowerPoint loads, click on "Turn on Coach", located beneath the main slide.
- With Speaker Coach enabled, present as you normally would. The AI coach will provide real-time, private suggestions to help enhance your delivery.

How to Access Speaker Coach Reports in Microsoft Teams
After your meeting or presentation ends, Speaker Coach generates a detailed report that provides insights into your speaking performance. This report includes valuable metrics such as:
- Total speaking time
- Use of filler or repetitive language
- Pace, pitch, and inclusivity analysis
- Suggestions for improvement
The report is private and only visible to you, ensuring confidentiality. You can also save or download the report for future reference.

To access your Speaker Coach report:
- Click the notification you receive immediately after the meeting ends.
- Alternatively, go to the meeting’s chat conversation and select the "Speaker Coach" tab.
- You can also find the report under the "Details tab" of the meeting event in your "Teams calendar."
How to Automatically Enable Speaker Coach for All Meetings
To have Speaker Coach start automatically in every Teams meeting, follow these steps:
- Open a Speaker Coach report from any past meeting.
- In the report, locate and toggle on the option: “Automatically start Speaker Coach in meetings.”
Important Notes:
- This setting is device-specific. If you use Teams on multiple devices, you’ll need to enable the setting for each one individually.
- Signing out of Microsoft Teams will reset this setting, and you’ll need to enable it again upon signing back in.
By turning this on, you ensure that Speaker Coach begins analyzing your speech automatically, helping you continuously improve without needing to enable it manually each time.
