The Equatio Screenshot Reader tool allows you to select any math problem on the web and offers options to listen to, edit, or copy the math problem as MathML or LaTeX. This is useful for transferring a math problem from the web to a document or math editor or vice versa.
How to use the Screenshot Reader
- Open Equatio.
- Find a math problem.
- This can be any math problem on the web, a document, a video, or more. The following example is from a Khan Academy YouTube video:
- Click on the Screenshot Reader tool in the Equatio toolbar.
- Click and drag until the math problem is fully inside of the selection box.
- Once the math problem has been selected:
- A box will appear around the math problem
- The text will change so the problem is easier to read.
- A bubble with three buttons will appear in the top right corner of the box.
- The math problem will also be read aloud.
The bubble in the top right of the box offers several options:
- To have the math problem read aloud again, press the play button on the left.
- The center ellipses button offers three options:
- Copy the math problem as LaTeX
- The problem will be copied in the LaTeX markup style and will appear as plain text in a single line. This can be used to paste into any LaTeX editor.
- Copy the math problem as MathML
- MathML copies the style and visual representation of the problem and can be pasted into various editors and documents like Microsoft Word. MathML also provides the correct structure to screen readers and other assistive technologies.
- Edit with Equatio.
- Edit the math problem using Equatio's built in editor in the toolbar.
- Copy the math problem as LaTeX
- The "X" button on the right closes the screenshot reader box.
