How to Add Alt Text to an Image on Brightspace
When adding images to announcements, it is essential to provide alternative text (alt-text) to ensure accessibility for users who rely on screen readers. Below are the two methods for adding alt-text to images in announcements, along with step-by-step instructions.
Uploading an Image and Selecting the “Camera Icon”
- Select the camera icon.

- Select “My Computer”.

- Select “Upload”.

- Finally, publish the announcement by clicking the “Publish” button.
Drag and Drop the Image into the Announcement Box
- Drag the image from your computer and drop it into the announcement box.
- Select the Image.

- Select the three lines at the bottom of the image.

- Type the alt-text into the “Image Description” box.

- Select “OK”.

- Finally, post the announcement by selecting the "Publish" button.
