How to Add Alt Text to an Image on Brightspace

When adding images to announcements, it is essential to provide alternative text (alt-text) to ensure accessibility for users who rely on screen readers. Below are the two methods for adding alt-text to images in announcements, along with step-by-step instructions.

Uploading an Image and Selecting the “Camera Icon”

  1. Select the camera icon.

  1. A pop-up will appear. Enter the alt-text in the box. If the image is decorative, select the box "This image is decorative", and you will not need to add any alt-text.

Drag and Drop the Image into the Announcement Box

  1. Drag the image from your computer and drop it into the announcement box.
  1. Select the Image.
